Availability, Working Hours and Breaks

My general availability is 7 days a week, from 9am until midnight. But it is impossible to do massages all day and every day due to it being a physically demanding task. Therefore I have breaks in between. And of course there are other things to do such as run errands, attend personal appointments, events etc.

Advanced bookings are always best, and when it comes to same day bookings, the more notice the better. Some clients such hectic and varying schedules that they can only leave things to chance and contact with me with short notice, and check if I am available. Others pre-plan and make advanced bookings. I try my best to accommodate all clients, but sometimes, I have to give certain clients a miss, if I am too tired after just finishing a massage, or have had 2 back to back appointments, or if I am away from the massage studio and cannot get back on time.

Most bookings are made on the day, and clients contact me to check if I am available. I don't advertise much as massage is a part time job for me, and my times are flexible as I am a freelancer. Therefore I am generally able to take most bookings and rarely have to turn a client down.

Clients who want to meet outside my working hours (that is before 9am or after midnight) will have to make an advanced booking and pay at least 50% of the fee upfront.  I cannot accept an advanced booking without some sort of a guarantee. So basically, you contact me with the date and time you want to meet and I will send you details on how to secure your booking. It is easy and simple.

Simple and Standard Relaxing Full Body Massage

There are a number of clients who just want a simple and straight forward full body massage treatment that is relaxing and therapeutic.

Not all customers opt for the sports massage or my unique 3 step massage treatment. Some just like it simple and with soft to medium pressure instead of deep pressure which is often used in deep tissue massage treatments.

If you're looking for a simple and soothing massage treatment that is therapeutic and relaxing, then all you have to do is make a booking and mention you need the "simple relaxing massage."

The treatment is done using my hands, and is performed on a massage table. Both sides of the client's body (front and back) are massaged.

Rates:  60 minutes – £60.   90 minutes – £80

A 45 -minute session is also available for those who are sometimes pushed for time, especially city-workers during their lunch break. Rate for this is £40

For bookings, please contact  078 7386 1344

How Massage Can Help Target Back Pain and Back Problems.

Massage is non-invasive and considered very low risk for most people. In addition to physical benefits, certain types of massage have been shown to help psychologically via relaxation and increased production of 'feel good' chemicals that the body naturally produces (endorphins)--helpful for people with back pain.
Massage therapy is becoming more widely accepted in the medical community as a credible treatment for many types of back pain and/or as an adjunct to other medical treatments. Research shows that massage therapy has several potential health benefits for back pain sufferers, including:
  • Increased blood flow and circulation, which brings needed nutrition to muscles and tissues. This aids in recovery of muscle soreness from physical activity or soft tissue injury (such as muscle strain).
  • Decreased tension in the muscles. This muscle relaxation can improve flexibility, reduce pain caused by tight muscles and even improve sleep.
  • Increased endorphin levels--the "feel good" chemicals in the brain. This mood enhancer can ease depression and anxiety, which can help reduce pain and speed recovery--particularly important for those suffering from chronic back or neck problems. (source: spine-health.com)

Reasons why Men should be getting Massages

Workout recovery – Massage is a necessity for men who play physical sports. Massage not only eases the onset of muscle soreness, but can speed healing by boosting the body’s circulatory and immune system. A sports massage is specifically designed to improve athletic performance.

Mood boost! Men are less likely to seek help when they’re feeling blue. While massage is not a substitute for more substantial mood therapies, the serotonin boost provided by massage can lift the blues and improve mental outlook.

Massage can alleviate physical symptoms of stress, like headache and high blood pressure, which can affect men especially as we age. A relaxing massage is perfect for reducing stress. Did you know that massage can even combat hangovers!

Cure desk stiffness – Men often suffer from back and neck pain, caused by sitting at a desk all day or repetitive injury. A massage can ease back and neck pain — plus, it feels great!

Be comfortable in your own skin – Normal male body reactions are totally fine in a massage. Some men tend to avoid massage because they are afraid they’ll get an erection. This is a normal physical reaction when the blood rushes around the body and of course "down there," and as a professional and experienced massage therapist, I will not be fazed at all!

Massage increases flexibility. Men are typically less flexible than women, which can make them more prone to injury and muscle pain.

Better sleep – About 20% of all men suffer from insomnia, an inability to fall asleep or stay asleep. Insomnia is associated with a lack of the hormone called serotonin, the “feel good hormone,” which is released in the body after a massage.  The sense of relaxation and well-being you feel after a massage helps men fall asleep and spend more time in deep sleep.

Cardiovascular wellness – Massage is good for heart health. It relaxes the body, boosts circulation and lowers levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. All these things help reduce stress on the heart and improve cardiovascular health.

Manage back pain – Men are extremely prone to lower back pain. 25% will experience lower back pain in any given three month period. Avoid surgery for back pain — massage is proven to loosen tense muscles and ease back pain in men. Check out my previous post for more details on how massage can combat back pain.

Unique 3 Step Massage Treatments - 078 5197 6445

My unique 3 step massage treatment is a mix of different styles; Sri Lankan, Thai and Keralan.

Step 1 - Performed on massage table/couch, using my hands. I use both short and long strokes in the Sri Lankan ayurvedic style. Movements are slow to begin with then slowly build up to fast. I alternate between movements too. Both sides of your body will be massaged (font and back).

Step 2 - I use my arms and elbows, in the Thai deep tissue style. I also use my knuckles, palms and fingers to add some variety to the motion and movements. You will still be on the massage table/couch and both sides of your body (front and back) will be massaged. Medium and/or deep pressure (depending on your preference) is applied to the back of your body and light to medium pressure is applied to the front of your body (especially chest and stomach areas as deep pressure on these areas is not a good idea!).

Step 3 - You will be moved to a thick yoga mat on the floor. I will be using my feet on your body, in the "Kalari" style, an ancient massage technique from the state of Kerala, south India. I add a bit of variation by using my knees too. Both sides of your body will be massaged and there will also be a bit of stretching technique to relax muscles and limbs. Padding can be added to the thick yoga mat for customers who don't like the hardness/thickness of the mat they're lying on. But to get the best benefits from the massage movements, padding is not advised. It depends on the customer's comfort though.
